Photocopy requests
We can send you photocopies from journals, conference proceedings, reports and books, subject to copyright law, for private study or research for a non-commercial purpose. All you need to do is complete a copyright declaration form with details of your request then sign and return it to us. We will then send the photocopy to you by post or fax. Normally we process your request within two working days. For urgent requests we offer a fast-track service.
If your request is for a commercial purpose, an additional copyright fee is applied. Please contact the Library for more information.
Just wanted to say thanks very much for the excellent service the library has provided, my articles arrived Friday as promised less than 48hrs after my enquiry and I thought this was definitely worth an email to say thanks!
Postal loans
If you can’t come into the Library, we can send materials to you by post. Books can be loaned for four weeks and journals for two weeks. They can then be renewed a further two times if no one else is waiting for them. Library members, all members of the RCVS and registered veterinary nurses based in the UK can loan material.
Interlibrary loans (ILL)
If we don’t have the material you need in our Library, we will try and obtain it for you from another library via our interlibrary loan service. To request an ILL complete a copyright declaration form with details of your request, then sign and return it to us.
Literature searches
If you are short of time or having difficulty finding information on a particular topic we can carry out a tailor made literature search for you. To request a search please contact us on 020 7202 0752 or email library@rcvstrust.org.uk. We will then send a list of references to you by email.

To help you keep up-to-date with the latest information we can supply quarterly alerts in a range of subjects such as Small Animal Medicine, Animal Welfare and Ethics and Equine Surgery. Alerts are sent out in January, April, July and October and contain details of all the articles published in the previous three months and abstracts where they are available. If you are interested in this service check the list of subjects that we currently offer, we are always happy to add another subject to the list if you can not see what you need.
An example of a subject alert on pig medicine can be downloaded from the 'Related documents' box.
